Finishing school is one of the most exciting and rewarding times of your life – but it can also be quite overwhelming to start planning life after school. That’s where Community Accessability can help.

We work with recent high school leavers through our School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) to provide young people with a disability with training, skills and experience to improve your employment opportunities and empower you to enter the workforce with confidence.

How it works

The SLES program is tailored specifically for you, to help ensure you reach your personal employment goals. SLES can be delivered individually, in a group, or a combination of both, depending on your preference and needs.

SLES will typically provide you with opportunities in:

  • Employment and vocational skill-building, such as learning to manage a work roster or understand work safe practices, through career-specific skills such as cooking and customer service.
  • Work experience in an inclusive environment that matches your career interests and employment goals. If you’re not sure which industries interest you, you can try a range of different work experience programs to discover which is the right fit for you.
  • Learning other foundational skills that help you engage in aspects of life-related to work, such as travel training or money handling.

Areas we service

Our SLES program is currently available in Wodonga and Wangaratta. But stay tuned for more opportunities in other regions of Victoria coming soon!

Am I eligible for SLES?

To be eligible for SLES you must:

  • Have recently finished Year 12.
  • Be between 16 and 24 years old.
  • Have an NDIS plan which contains ‘Capacity Building – finding and keeping a job’.

If you do not have SLES in your NDIS plan, you will need to contact your Local Area Coordinator or School Transition Officer for assistance.
